This guide will walk you through the process of adding and managing knowledge sources to create a more knowledgeable and effective AI Agent that can accurately respond to queries about your business, products, and services.

Understanding Knowledge Sources

Knowledge sources are files containing information that your AI agent can reference when interacting with your customers. By uploading your company documents, guides, FAQs, and other materials, you equip your agent with the specific information it needs to provide accurate, relevant responses.

Knowledge Base Size Limits

Your knowledge base has limits based on your plan.

  • Total character count is displayed at the top of the knowledge base view

  • The progress bar shows how much of your available capacity is currently used

  • Character counts for individual files are shown in the file listing

Standard Plan: Up to 500,000 characters per AI Agent.

Premium Plan: Up to 1 million characters per AI Agent.

Scale Plan: Up to 5 million characters per AI Agent.

Enterprise Plan: Up to 10 million characters per AI Agent.

Adding Knowledge Sources

You can add one or multiple files at once to your AI Agent.

Drag and Drop Files

  1. Navigate to the Knowledge section in your Frontline dashboard

  2. Drag and drop files directly into the sources

  3. The sources dialog will pop-up with the files ready to be added by clicking "add sources".

Add Files Dialog

  1. Navigate to the Knowledge section

  2. Click the "Add files" button

  3. Click the "+ Add files" button in the upload modal or drag and drop files into the dialog

  4. Browse your computer and select the files you want to upload

  5. Click "Add Sources" to begin the upload process

Monitoring Processing Status

After uploading, your files will go through processing stages:

  • Processing: The file is being analyzed and information is being extracted

  • Completed: The file has been successfully processed and is now available to your AI agent

  • Failed: There was an issue processing the file (hover over the status for error details)

Note: During the processing stage, your agent won't be able to respond with information from that document. Only completed files are accessible to your AI agent.

Supported File Types

You can upload various file types including:

  • PDFs (.pdf)

  • Text files (.txt)

  • Word documents (.docx, .doc)

  • Markdown files (.md)

  • CSV files (.csv)
